School Workshops
Adventurous Stone age visits!
Invite a real Stone Age person into your classroom with a Stone Age Prehistoric WOW day with Marvellous History. Hands-on activities, role play, drama, artifact handling and games teach children about life in the Stone Age. Become a hunter-gatherer or discover the new idea of “farming”, migrate following the herd or perhaps build a settlement. Perhaps you’ll even hear about this new stuff called “bronze”. Children will become part of the oral tradition of storytelling learning how meaningful it might have been in a time before books, and perhaps even telling their own stories. Make rock art to record your history, handle stone tools and fossils, defend your hill fort, or even take part in a tribal war!
The map on the right shows the area where we can offer Prehistoric Stone Age workshops at our standard rate. We can offer workshops outside this area at an additional cost.
Workshops can be run on specific topics or combined to cover the whole period. Topics covered could include:
- Hunting and gathering to herding and farming
- Cave paintings
- Materials used by early people
- Hill forts and henges
- Gods and beliefs
- Bog bodies and ice men
- Man’s best friend – domesticating dogs
- Tribes, towns and trade
- Daily life
- Warfare
- Stories and myths

What we do:
- Bring a wide range of accurate replica artifacts
- Dress up as a historically accurate character for the day
- Provide a bespoke timetable that fits with your particular learning objectives
- Supply equipment and specialist materials for our activities

Lunch

What we need:
- A hall
- At least two staff members and a minimum of one for every 30 children
- A couple of tables to display
- A place to get changed
- Suitable parking close to the hall
